NEW NDI Processes for CUES
I have redone our NDI networking protocols within CUES to make things easier to remember and to lockdown and update firmware further to prevent further issues with NDI networking. Please have a quick read about what I have done below

<kbd>April 18th, 2023</kbd>
* Updated firmware on each of the Netgear switches
* Added all of our switches to a Netgear 'site' called CUES using [Netgear Engage Controller](https://www.netgear.com/support/product/m4250#download)
* Updated IP addresses on all NDI devices to reflect new IP table (below)
* Added NDI Camera to the theatre to replace old COAX cam

Netgear M4250-26G4XF-PoE+ (our production switches) Manual
https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/M4250/M4250_UM_EN.pdf

Switch Configurations
In the Theatre
* Purple: LX (ArtNET & sACN)
* Blue: NDI (NDI5)
* Red: Dante (Dante/AES67)

Morpheus (KMT Production Studio, 10.10.10.2)

Trinity (KMT Mezzanine, 10.10.10.3)

Neo (KMT Booth, 10.10.10.4)

Topology
Trinity is in the Mezzanine with 20GB trunk lines connecting the production studio switch (Morpheus) and the one in the booth (Neo).

In the vMix Rack

Switch Configurations
In the Theatre
* Purple: LX (ArtNET & sACN)
* Blue: NDI (NDI5)
* Red: Dante (Dante/AES67)

Size: 32 across x 31 upstage to downstage (along center line).

It must be mopped before and after each show.

Sound Room
This is where all the microphones, meyer monitors, and auxillary equipment are stored for the KMT. Upstairs there is some storage for curtain scraps.

Mezz
Up the stairs from stage left. Additional light fixtures and Gels are stored here aswell as the Marley floor for dance shows.

Cat-Walk
Access to the catwalk is from a staircase in the back of the mezz. There are large ethernet cables here that are connected to the video network. On shows where there are cameras in the auditorium these cables need to be dropped down on the sides of the hall.

Piano Room
Piano storage space when the piano is not in use. It uses the same key as the Prod Office.

Sink Room
Opposite to the sound room. You'll find the mops here

Prod Office (Audio)
AKA Johns office: audio for broadcast/recording is done from this space

Important gear
*QL5 Audio Console
*PC
Green Room
Passcode is visble from the poster in the prod-office

Dressing Room
As of writing there is only ONE Keyset that has the key to these rooms it is marked with pink tape. Be extra careful with this keyset.

KMT Routing
The KMT uses multiple networks to facilitate audio and video transmission. Dante transmits the audio while video along with internet is sent along the NDI network. Lighting fixtures are sent over sACN.

Comms
the KMT is outfitted with a couple different types of coms for use on events.

Wired Coms
These are the oldest coms that have physical patchpoints within the theatre. A standard 3pin xlr connects these to our silver belt packs to allow for communication on Channel A

Wirless Coms
The wirelss coms are connected to the same channel as the wired coms. The rack unit that facilitates the transmissions lives in the rack in the Mezz. The antennas run out the window and are c-clamped on the stage left side of the P.A

In the future these will be able to be on a seperate channel than the main wired comm line, we are wating on a adapter to facilitate this.

Dante Coms
These coms can patch into any Dante PoE switch and allow to listen to 2 channels of audio and send one channel of talk. By Default the Comms are all sending and reciving on the same channel as the wired and wireless coms. They can be changed, but must be reset at the end of the show as part of the tear down.

Dante System
There are a couple different dante patches that are saved on the iMac in the prod office.

Default patch
the Defalt for our operations. The Rio head amp (in the mezz) is transmitting to the CL5 FOH mixer, QL5 Broadcast mixer and the Multitrack record computer (iMac in Prod office). output of the broadcast mixer is sent to the Streaming computer (vMix)

Recording Playback patch
An alternate setting for Dante is the recordingplayback patch where the inputs to the QL5 are the outputs of the Recording iMac. This patch is used for remixing an previously recorded concert, or as a way to have some additional soundcheck once the talent has left, but before the show.

Broadcasting Mixer Settings
The Default output of the Broadcast mixer is Matrix 1+2. The only things that are sending to the matrix are the ST and the PC. This is to allow fo their to be a soundcheck while the stream is live by cueing the ST with its volumefader at -inf. The PC input from the the proad office PC goes directly to the Matrix so that music is not part of the cued soundcheck and can be live while the soundcheck is happening.

</div>

What is vMix?
vMix is a full-featured video production / livestreaming / mixing software. Compared to traditional video switchers it boasts the ability to add virtual animated graphics, networked video sources and LOTS of routing options. CUES moved to vMix after seeing limitations in hardware switcher setups during the pandemic and requiring a solution for easier graphics and virtual video participants in events.

How CUES makes use of vMix
On a typical CUES event, vMix could be used to mix any of the following sources:
*Image File (.png, .jpg, .gif)
*Multiple Image Files in Folder (image slideshow)
*Video File (.mp4, .mov, .avi)
*Audio File (.mp3, .wav)
*Live Camera Feed (via capture card)
*NDI Source (networked camera feed, ZoomISO feed)
*Audio Source (from computer input such as Audio Interface)
*PowerPoint (.pptx, .ppt)
*Colour Source (solid colour, transparency or colour bars)
*Title Source (.gtzip, custom vMix format)
*Webpage Source (web link)
All of these formats can be imported straight into vMix.

Graphical User Interface
This is the default vMix user interface:

Like other video switchers, the left large video display is a preview monitor of what you're ready to switch to and the one on the right is your program output. The bottom half of the window is composed of 'bins' of video sources and audio settings under the 'Audio Mixer' tab.

Each source has 'Quick Play', 'Cut', 'Loop' and 'Close' toggles on the input as well as the option to send it to overlay '1', '2', '3', or '4', enable or disable 'Audio', display the input larger (monitor icon) or access further settings (cog icon).

* Quick Play, Cut, Loop: Just quick self-explanatory controls per-input
* Close: Removes the input from the bin
* Overlays: Clicking these 1, 2, 3 & 4 buttons will allow you to overlay that input over top of whatever is on program and will go straight to program. Clicking the button again once it's highlighted will clear the overlay.

Between the two large video displays are the transition buttons between sources, and above them is the fullscreen display toggle and settings. In the top left you'll find 'New', 'Open', 'Save' and 'Last' buttons that correspond to the vMix save file. In the top right is access to the main settings window, different from source settings.

Along the very bottom of the window you will see some runtime statistics as well as the current resolution and framerate that vMix is using. Immediately above this are the 'Add Input', 'Record', 'External', 'Stream', 'MultiCorder' and 'PlayList' buttons as well as the 'Overlay' settings and some other diagnostics.
* MultiCorder: This function allows you to configure vMix to record isolated feeds from multiple sources separate from your main recording.
* PlayList: mostly for pre-programmed shows, allows you to set all of your switches in a playlist and just click "Next" to run the show.

</div>

* Add Input: This is where you add all sources to your input 'bin'
* Record: Start / Stop recording, click cog to modify recording settings
* External: Toggle external output, click cog to modify external output settings
* Stream: Toggle streaming, cog modifies streaming settings
* MultiCorder: This function allows you to configure vMix to record isolated feeds from multiple sources separate from your main recording.

Important gear
*QL5 Audio Console
*PC
**Connected to Both Dante and NDI Used for audio playback and video monitoring for broadcast audio.

Prod Office (Video)
Video switching, graphics, and broadcast producers use this space to swicth and call a show for broadcast.

Important Gear
*vMixatron 2.0
**PC video streaming switcher
*Mac Mini
**used for graphics or additional broadcast computing
*MultiMedia injector
**SSD bay for uploading recordings (connected to vMixatron 2.0)
*Netgear AV Switch
**Network switch with PoE with vLan for NDI and Dante
*Ninja Atmos Recorder
**Recording device to record the broadcast externally from vMix

Prod Office (Video)
Video switching, graphics, and broadcast producers use this space to swicth and call a show for broadcast.

Important Gear
- vMixatron 2.0
### <div id="Dressing-Room">Dressing Room</div>

As of writing there is only ONE Keyset that has the key to these rooms it is marked with pink tape. Be extra careful with this keyset.

## KMT Routing

The KMT uses multiple networks to facilitate audio and video transmission. Dante transmits the audio while video along with internet is sent along the NDI network. Lighting fixtures are sent over sACN.
![kmt_routing.jpeg](/assets/kmt_routing.jpeg)

## Comms

the KMT is outfitted with a couple different types of coms for use on events.

### Wired Coms

These are the oldest coms that have physical patchpoints within the theatre. A standard 3pin xlr connects these to our silver belt packs to allow for communication on Channel A
There are a couple different dante patches that are saved on the iMac in the prod office.

### Default patch

the Defalt for our operations. The Rio head amp (in the mezz) is transmitting to the CL5 FOH mixer, QL5 Broadcast mixer and the Multitrack record computer (iMac in Prod office). output of the broadcast mixer is sent to the Streaming computer (vMix)
</div>

* PlayList: mostly for pre-programmed shows, allows you to set all of your switches in a playlist and just click "Next" to run the show.

What is Rentman?
Rentman is the tool of choice for CUES for inventory management, project management, staffing, etc. It's our operational core. This page contains some of the standards for usage we have established within CUES.

Basics of Rentman Tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYcwDnBQB_w

Rentman Terminology
NAVIGATION
* Workspace: the version of Rentman that belongs to CUES (https://cues.rentmanapp.com)
* Project: the overarching term for anything relating to an event in Rentman
* Subproject: used to divide a project into multiple viable options OR when scheduling the same event in multiple locations (one location per subproject)
* Time Schedule: all related ‘time blocks’ involved in a project
* Equipment: all equipment we own that is documented in the Rentman database
* Crew: all people involved in a project
* Warehouse: location where the equipment is stored but also the name of the module that allows checking equipment out
* Contacts: the database in Rentman where names of Customers, Locations and Suppliers are listed
* Time Registration: where you clock in/out and log hours in Rentman

CONCEPTS
* Subrent: can be either internal (from ourselves) or external (from another AV company) and is the process of ‘borrowing equipment' and passing the cost on through billing
* Usage Period: the ‘time block’ relating to a project wherein the equipment is being actively used to execute the event
* Planning Period: the ‘time block’ relating to a project wherein the equipment is expected to be out of the warehouse

Project Types
We've divided our projects by type and assigned a color to each type. Here's the details:
